World Journal of Surgery is launched
ISS/SIC establishes the World Journal of Surgery as its international surgical journal, with Marshall J. Orloff as its first Editor-in-Chief.
A new symbol for a global society
The ISS/SIC logo is renewed, combining the world map, historic Greek motto and symbols of knowledge, healing and unity.

Alessandro Fichera serves as President of ISS/SIC for the 2026–2028 term. His presidency focuses on engaging and supporting the Integrated Societies, strengthening surgical education and maintaining momentum between Congress years on the road to ISW 2028 in Cape Town.
